This is just a heads up to all those who may be in the NYC area during this coming November.
There will be a screening of the film Precious Knowledge on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at the Schomburg Center’s Langston Hughes Auditorium, 515 Malcolm X Blvd. at 135th Street, Harlem, New York, brought to the city by a number of fierce, radical and dedicated local organizations. The film is a remarkable documentation of the struggle for Ethnic Studies in the Tucson, Arizona unified school district, and was reviewed on this blog on September 2, 2011. Precious Knowledge is an inspirational demonstration of what a truly revolutionary form of education can do to challenge the state’s apparatuses of domination, while enriching, empowering and uniting oppressed communities. It is a must-see for anyone who wants to get a sense of what brown, radical and imaginative learning in action can look like.
